The 20 Most Impressive Speedruns of All Time
Can you imagine putting in hours and hours replaying a game that many have already finished and uninstalled?

Well you don't have to imagine that hard, because while you spent 25 hours beating The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, someone else beat it in 6 whole minutes.
But don't feel bad, these people aren't technically 'playing', they're speedrunning.
And if you've ever wondered what the most impressive speedruns of all time are, look no further.
1
Red Dead Redemption 2 - The current speedrun for Rockstar's most detailed game is close to 13 hours by Hess. Predictably, in the coming few years this number will go down. But even right now, the 13 hours speedrun is insane considering how Red Dead Redemption 2 took some of us over 100 hours to beat.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - When one plays a game like The Witcher 3, one of the first things that come to mind is soaking in the environment as you solve problems one at a time. But from a speedrunner's eyes, that's just time lost. Hence, the speedrun for this leviathan of a game stands at 2h41m by a speedrunner named VenomCold. Cold indeed!

Dark Souls - This game welcomes the newcomers with the "You Are Dead" screen repeatedly. Until the player finally gives up and switches to another game. So it's crazy to imagine that a game like this, where a standard first playthrough can take over 100 hours to wrap up, was dominated by someone in just over one hour. The current speed run for Dark Souls, beating all the bosses, stands at 1h01m by a player named catalysts. Holy Smokes!

Portal - It's understandable if you don't believe someone could finish this game in a few minutes, but it is possible. The current speed run for this puzzle-based title is only 6 minutes, and it's by a player named CantEven, which is exactly what most of us will say when we see this speed run for the first time.
14
Super Metroid - It certainly takes courage to finish classics like Super Metroid in today's world. First, the player will have to get a working SNES if authenticity is the concern. Second, the player will need a tv that supports it or multiple adapters to run this on a widescreen. Luckily though, someone named Izoast has done all the above, including mastering the game. His current record sits at 40m46s. But the in-game time is only 27 minutes.

Super Mario 64 - Since the beginning of time, Super Mario 64 speedrunners have gone above and beyond to finish it as quickly as possible. Many have tried weird controllers to play through. Some have even gone blindfolded. But the thrill of the good old regular run is unlike anything. A player named batora is currently on top with their 1h38m speedrun. Which is crazy because we know from experience that this game should at least take 12 hours to beat.

Getting Over It With Bennett Foddy - Here's a skill-based game that anyone can finish quickly by making every move precise. A little warning though, this game continually screws you over with its garbage controls. Luckily, a player named Blastbolt managed to pull themselves past these control issues and found the way up, finishing this 6-hour game in only 1 minute.

Pokémon Red - If you're a Pokemon fan who had played Red on the original Nintendo Gameboy, then you must remember that it took a long, long time to clear that game. Like almost a whole summer vacation long. So how did player hwangbro finish it in only 1h45m? The most unbelievable aspect of this speedrun is that Pokemon Red is a turn-game title, and one will have to break the game to achieve that time. Surprisingly, the current run is completely glitchless.
